Our Founder

A Personal Touch got its name from customers of Phil Dreessen who would compliment his work saying, “I like your personal touch” when he cleaned their carpets. When the time was right to found his own independent business, Dreessen insisted that his company name reflect what set his services apart from the rest - A Personal Touch.

Inherent in Dreessen's approach to business is the service mentality he was raised in. Dreessen's parents were missionaries to Africa. Phil was only an infant when the family moved to Africa where they spent four years in the Sahara desert followed by four years in the rainforest converting the indigenous people to Christianity.

Dreessen's memories of the experience are as fresh as if they happened yesterday. On one weekend, Dreessen and his father accompanied a student to visit his tribe of headhunters. The tribe had never laid eyes on a white man before and Dreessen was immediately surrounded by native children who pinched him to see if he was real or a ghost.

All these many years later, new customers of A Personal Touch can find they are pinching themselves after a cleaning appointment wondering where the hassle they've experienced with other cleaning companies has gone. Instead, A Personal Touch is responsive to calls and arrives on time for appointments. Their service includes moving furnishings to clean carpets thoroughly plus product and instruction on how to maintain your carpets in between professional cleanings.

Repeat customers are testimony to A Personal Touch's fine service. Dreessen has a lot of customers like the owner of Chewy the Dog, who regularly call on Dreessen's carpet repair skills to correct this little terrier's penchant for eating carpet, especially in the center of the room. Dreessen gets annual Christmas greeting cards from Chewy. And Chewy's owner knows that what havoc her pet creates, A Personal Touch is just a call away.

Today, Ben Dreessen has joined his father's business, keeping alive the tradition of service first and foremost. One of the Dreessen's favorite sayings is: We don't cut corners; we clean them.
